Healing the invisible wounds of war for veterans of all eras.

Founded in 2009, Home Base is a Red Sox Foundation in the Massachusetts General Hospital program that’s dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war for veterans of all eras, service members, military families, and families of the Fallen, all at no cost to them.

“We’re always looking for ways to give back to those who have given so much,” says Kurt Fieldhouse, C2MG Founder. When one of our partners at the North Bennett Street School, my alma mater, contacted us to help the Home Base organization build a recognition wall honoring those who have given a significant amount of funding to support the program, I was all in.”

The wall recognizes and thanks those who have made donations and worked together to help them heal from invisible wounds in a family-based clinic working in cooperation with the US Departments of Defense (DoD) and Veterans Affairs (VA).

“This cause is near and dear to my heart, says Kurt. My entire company has a strong connection to the military. I was an infantry paratrooper. I did three years of active duty and then 5 years in the reserves. My dad was in the military, and my daughter Gretchen is currently serving in the military. I am very proud to say we definitely have a soft spot for vets and hire as many as we can.

After being briefed, I offered a design suggestion and shared some things that we had done in the past. My inspiration has been and always will be the American flag. In my company, it’s about America, made in America, and the flag is the ultimate symbol. Based on that, we got the green light, and I knew we had the man for the job.

Jeff Hanley, who works for C2MG, is a Marine vet who went through a lot over in Iraq. Building this wall was the perfect way for him to get involved in a cause that he loves and understands”, Kurt continues. “Jeff attended North Bennett Street School for their Carpentry, Cabinet, and Furniture Programs. We hired him as a carpenter.” “I do everything from framing to finish work, says Jeff. I coordinated with different subcontractors working on the wall, and I organized and managed the project. Special thanks to Paul Fiore of Paul John and Son Roofing for your support. We couldn’t have done this without you.”

The result is an impressive handcrafted American flag wall that was prepared and built by a veteran-owned company with love in its heart. At the end of the day, we consider it a privilege to have donated our time, expertise, and skills to recognize and support all the men and women who have served. We hope everyone can look up at that wall and know where it came from, honor God and country, and those who have given so much. We are proud of what we have achieved.”

Home Base serves as a replicable model to promote the health and well-being of Veterans, Service Members, and their Families nationwide.
